Response to Attacks

Jim’s opposition has started false and misleading attacks earlier than ever.

Opposition’s Claim

“Knoblach raised his own pay.”

Jim Knoblach’s Response

FALSE.

In 2014, voters enacted a constitutional amendment under which an independent, nonpartisan commission now sets legislative pay.  This commission gave legislators a pay increase this year, the first one since 1999.  I never voted for this pay increase.  The vote that was cited just ratified the Legislature’s budget at the same amount as the previous year before the increase took effect.  (HJ page 7107-7109  2/22/18)

Opposition’s Claim

“Knoblach underfunded our schools”

Jim Knoblach’s Response

FALSE.

School funding increased by more than $1.3 billion, an 8.3% increase.  District #742 is receiving $5.2 million more in new funding.  (HJ page 3712, 3/31/17)

Opposition’s Claim

“Knoblach failed to pass the AARP’s recommended elder abuse…legislation.”

Jim Knoblach’s Response

Misleading.

I voted to pass other elder abuse legislation that was based on recommendations from the nonpartisan Legislative Auditor.  (HJ page 715, 5/20/18)

Opposition’s Claim

“Knoblach failed to confront the opioid crisis.”

Jim Knoblach’s Response

False.

I was Chief House Author of SF3656, which increased funding to fight the opioid crisis by $16 million.

Tell my opponent Dan Wolgamott to stop the false and misleading attacks!

The 2017-18 legislative session was a success:
